Grant Freeze
Update

First, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who donated following our January 28th announcement about the federal grant freeze under the new White House administration. Since then, we’ve received conflicting updates—some indicating the executive order was rescinded, others suggesting it remains in effect. A federal judge issued a temporary stay, which has since been lifted, and our State Attorney General has filed a lawsuit against the federal government. If all this sounds complicated, that’s because it is.

So, what does this mean for Family Promise of the Triangle? According to organizations like the National Alliance to End Homelessness and the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits, we still have access to our funding—for now.

Those two words—for now—have sparked concern and uncertainty in recent weeks. If the worst-case scenario unfolds and we lose all federal funding, the impact on our 2025 budget will be $206,365, and for 2026, an estimated $436,760.

Yet, we don’t share this to raise alarm. Instead, we see it as a call to action. At Family Promise of the Triangle, we remain steadfast in our mission to serve as many families experiencing homelessness as possible. “For now” reminds us to focus on what we can control rather than worry about what we cannot.

And right now, we need you more than ever to be part of that strategy. Here’s how you can help during this critical time:

  • Donate to Family Promise of the Triangle. While we have contingency plans in place, the most effective way to ensure no gaps in services is through direct financial support. You can click here to access our online donation platform.

  • Reach out to your representatives. Advocacy matters. If you’re unsure whom to contact or what to say, the National Alliance to End Homelessness offers this helpful resource page.

  • Introduce us to potential supporters. We’re proud of our impact, and we need your help spreading the word. If you know individuals, businesses, or organizations that may be interested in sponsoring or supporting us, please email our Development and Communications Director.

  • Connect us with grant opportunities. If your workplace, faith community, civic group, or foundation has grant funding available, let us know! Email our Development and Communications Director with any leads.

Your continued support is what allows us to serve families in need—not just for now, but for the long term. Together, we can build a future where every family in the Triangle has a place to call home.

Thank you for standing with us,

Scott Ferris, MPA, LSW, Executive Director
